Option 2: Full Package

This package provides you with all the basic information about a soldier you are researching who died in the First World War. The pack includes:

  • Print out of details from Soldiers Died in the Great War - this includes full military details, plus where born, enlisted and living, and if there was previous service in another unit.

  • Copy of colour Memorial Scroll personalised to the soldier, from Soldiers Died in the Great War.

  • List of men from the same unit who died the same date - learn the names of the comrades who died with him.

  • Full colour trench map showing the battlefield where he died (Western Front only).

  • Extract from the 'Official History' of the war giving details of what was happening on the day he died (note - the amount of information varies from a line to several pages).

  • Search of Paul Reed's personal library and archive for further information relating to the action in which the soldier died - typically this will be a search for any unit or divisional histories, memoirs mentioning the unit or battle, plus a check to see if we hold any original photographs of the unit he served in. Copies of any material found are provided.

Plus the following extra research at the National Archives in London:

  • Copy of Medal Index Card giving details of the campaign medals awarded to the soldier.

  • Copy of Medal Roll - which often shows all the battalions served in.

  • Search for a surviving Service Record: note that many have not survived. When they do survive, typically they can be 15/20+ pages. If survived, copies will be made.

  • Copy of the original war-time unit War Diary for the day the soldier died, explaining what the unit was doing that day: note, this can be from just a few lines to many pages.

  • Plus the usual detailed summary and conclusions explaining the research sent to you.

  • Research presented in an attractive folder with colour cover page showing regiment/unit badge.
